Locals fare well in elk license drawing

BENEZETTE – The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) held its annual elk license drawing on Saturday afternoon during the opening day of the 2015 Pa. Great Outdoors Elk Expo at the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette, and this year five Elk County residents were selected to receive a license to hunt an elk during the state's weeklong hunting season, which runs from Nov. 2-7.
Simon Shutters, of Weedville, drew the lone bull tag out of the group. He was the fifth out of 21 individuals selected for the chance to harvest a bull elk. Shutters was drawn for Elk Hunt Zone 3, which is made up of parts of Elk and Cameron Counties.
