Ramettes win 3-2 thriller over Lady Crusaders

JOHNSONBURG – The Ramettes won 17-15 in the fifth game to score a 3-2 win over Elk County Catholic Monday night. Johnsonburg took the first two games 25-23 and 26-24 and ECC took the third and fourth 25-23 and 25-22. The win was the sixth in a row for the Johnsonburg girls who are 12-3 and just the second loss for the 13-2 Lady Crusaders – both to the Ramettes.

“I love how that last game went. I loved how ECC played. I loved how we played. Both teams were playing awesome and it was fun,” said J-Burg head coach Matt Shuey.

I feel like this could have gone either way. This is what volleyball is all about. It was a fun match. I’m not too disappointed in the loss. Johnsonburg made us make errors when they needed to and won the game,” said ECC head coach Kelsey Morey. “Tonight was a battle. They’ve been our toughest opponent but it was fun - win or lose,” she added.

Seeing action for the Ramettes were Emma King, Alaina Sherry, McKenzie Sallack, Haley Zimmerman, Ella Stauffer, Tess Kocjancic, Megan Bienkowski, Mackenzie Freeman, Sarah Love, Brittany Kudrick, Alexa Mahoney, Brianna Moore, and Ella Lindberg.

Morey used a rotation that included Gabby Weisner, Maddie Marzzulo, Abby Hasselman, Moira Stanisch, Haley Baron, Julia Aikens, Brooke Bauer, Tammi Geci, and Tori Newton.

The Ramettes are back at it tonight when they host Bradford. The Lady Crusaders will host Bradford on Thursday.
