As the final awards were distributed Labor Day, the last day of the Ridgway Rifle Club’s Regional Lever Action Championships, a tired Match Director Tammy Haynes thanked the competitors and spectators who helped make the three-day event a success.
“This was the biggest match I’ve done so far. The numbers (118 shooters) were amazing for this being a regional. The staff was on point, the kids (target setters) were on point and everybody shot well. It’s just been great,” she said.
Regional championships were awarded in lever action Saturday, pistol cartridge Sunday and small bore Monday. Aggregate championship awards were distributed as the event closed out. A typical regional tournament has in the range of 50 shooters. Haynes and the rifle club’s goal are to get the National Championships for the three events in Ridgway.
