Ridgway YMCA Preschool to open after Labor Day

The newly constructed preschool classroom at the Ridgway YMCA is ready to go for the school year, with classes set to begin after Labor Day.
After the Anne Forbes Preschool, located at the First Lutheran Church, announced it was closing the school at the end of the semester, it came as a surprise to some community members. The school had been part of the community for decades, leaving families to search for an alternative.
Stepping in to fill the void was Mary Lynne Belotti, executive director of the Ridgway YMCA.
When the announcement was made to the Anne Forbes parents, Belotti, who had been working behind the scenes, was able to offer an alternative.
The YMCA would take over for this preschool program and keep it in downtown Ridgway.
"We couldn't be more excited about this endeavor as youth development is a central part of our mission at the Y," Belotti said. "And being able to offer this program only enhances our core mission."
