In what has become an annual tradition the second-grade students of Ridgway Elementary visited the Pine Ridge Farm, owned by Elk County Commissioner Janice Kemmer and her husband Mervin on a field trip today. The farm began in 1876, and has been in continuous operation ever since. For the past 23 years, the Kemmer's have opened up the farm each fall to give the kids a great field trip.
Mrs. Mercer's second-grade class met the biggest kid in Elk County on Friday, as farm owner Merv Keemer told the kids they needed to sit down during the hayride or they might fall off and become corn fertilizer only showing his grin after turning away from the class.
